Mrs. Ferguson's Class Website
Welcome to my website and to the 2011-2012 school year! I am thrilled to be your child's 3rd grade teacher, and I can't wait for our year to unfold.
This is my first year using a website as a communication tool, and I hope that you find this to be a helpful resource. Please feel free to visit whenever you wish; I will send an email when I make updates to this site so that you can stay informed throughout the school year. This website will serve as my newsletter, but I may still send important information via email or in your child's Friday Folder.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all children can learn. All children learn differently, and all children bring their own unique gifts to the classroom. Every child should feel valued, important, and respected both by peers and teachers. I hope to create a safe learning environment where your child feels free to express himself/herself and to take risks. It is my responsibility to guide children through the learning process, support them when they struggle, challenge them when they surpass expectations, and celebrate with them when they succeed.
In my classroom, students learn to follow their curiosity, to think creatively, and to work both independently and cooperatively with others.Through inquiry based learning and authentic experiences, your child will learn not only what they need to know, but what they want to know. I strive to teach beyond the basics and provide the most enriching experiences possible.
I also believe that the success of your child's education relies upon a strong connection between parents and the teacher.
